All packages have a red Gloup Original logo. The Gloup Original tube is a plastic tube with flip-top cap, 75ml or 150ml content. The swallowing gel contains 100% natural ingredients, such as water, carrageenan, maltodextrin, sucrose, potassium sorbate, calcium chloride, citric acid, a natural colouring and flavouring.
According to speech and language therapists, the best swallowing result will be obtained with Gloup Original after being stored in the refrigerator.
- Place the medicine(s) to be taken on a tablespoon.
- Then squeeze a small amount directly from the tube or the pump dispenser onto the medicines. About 5ml or half a tablespoon of Gloup Original will be enough.
- Then put it all in your mouth and swallow everything in one go.
Gloup Original works in three ways:
- The gel is thick and smooth and ensures easy swallowing of medicines as well as a smooth passing via the oesophagus to the stomach;
- Gloup Original moistens the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat cavity.
- The fresh flavour of Gloup Original masks the unpleasant taste of medication.
Gloup Original can be used by anyone who struggles to swallow pills and capsules, but can swallow independently. Gloup Original is suitable for anyone over the age of 2. Gloup Original contains solely natural ingredients and does not contain gluten, allergens and gelatine.
For swallowing, it is not necessary to drink water if you are using Gloup Original. However, in many cases the manufacturer of the medication recommends taking your medicine with a glass of water. This is not important for the swallowing process, but it is essential for the absorption in the stomach. For this reason, this advice should always be followed, even if you have already swallowed the medication. In case of doubt, please consult the medication package insert.
Gloup Original can be used with several types of medication at the same time. An exception to this rule applies to medicines that can affect the effectiveness of one another and should not, therefore, be taken simultaneously. Gloup Original is a swallowing gel that does not have any active or pre-emptive properties. There is no known scientific data that has shown that ingredients of Gloup Original could impact upon the effectiveness of your medication.
No! Capsules can be swallowed smooth and simple with Gloup Original. Therefore, opening capsules is not necessary. It is never advisable to open capsules because this may affect the effectiveness of the medication and the side effects may increase. There also might be an undesired interaction between several medicines.
No! Tablets can be swallowed safely and smoothly with Gloup Original. Therefore, tablet crushing or pulverising is not necessary. It is never advisable to crush medicines because this may reduce the effectiveness of the medicine and the chance of side effects may increase. There also might be undesired interaction between several medicines.
Gloup Original has not been developed specifically for patients with a disturbed swallowing reflex. Gloup Original is not a solution for patients who choke on solid substances. Gloup Original should not be used for swallowing medicines in liquid or dispersible form. If you are over-sensitive to one or more of the components in Gloup Original, you are advised to consult your doctor or pharmacist before using. Gloup Original contains 10% of sucrose as a sweetening agent.
Gloup Zero is sugar free and uses Xylitol as the sweetening agent.
Gloup Original is free from gluten.
Gloup Original is free from allergens.
Gloup Original is free from gelatine.
Gloup Original is a universal swallowing gel that is also suitable for swallowing nutritional supplements and vitamins.
There is insufficient data available to establish the safety of Gloup Original during pregnancy or breastfeeding, always consult your GP with any concerns.
As far as is known, the ingredients in Gloup Original do not have any impact on your ability to drive.
Usually 5ml (half a tablespoon) of Gloup Original is enough each time. With this quantity of swallowing gel swallowing your medicines goes smooth and simple. A larger quantity of Gloup Original can be used with larger quantities of medicines. The medication can also be taken with Gloup Original in several doses.
You can use Gloup Original every time you take your medicines. A maximum of three doses per day is recommended for children under six years of age. Consult your pharmacist before using Gloup Original in higher doses.
Gloup Original contains carrageenan, a substance that, in higher doses or when used over a long period, can lead to gastrointestinal problems, specifically flatulence and diarrhoea. If you encounter these issues, consult your doctor or your pharmacist. In this event, always take your tube or bottle of Gloup Original with you.
Gloup Original must be kept out of the reach of children, in the closed, original packaging and preferably between 2 and 25°C. Speech and Language therapists advise to store Gloup Original/ in the refrigerator, because a chilled swallowing gel improves the swallowing reflex.
The expiry date is printed on the tube and the bottle. Once the tube or bottle has been opened, Gloup Original can be used for two months. Unused Gloup Original can be disposed of with your ordinary household waste after the use-by date.
